Our company is engaged in various Corporate Social Responsibility across the country. Our activities are mainly in the educational and health sectors. We have made a lot of donations of books to various secondary schools across the country. We have also made donations of essential medical equipment at various hospitals and health centres. Our Board of directors committed 10% of our annual income for CSR activities. We are in partnership with Malawian union for the brand and we offer scholarship to some of their students. We have been one of the main donors for the Luanar main events hall. We continue to work with government to ensure delivery of quality health and education through our activities.
Petroleum Importers Limited (PIL), Malawi’s major fuel importer set aside K50 million this year for its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs. The assistance focused on education and health sector. The money has gone towards provisions for eight Community Day Secondary Schools (CDSS) and six health facilities across the country.During the year, PIL also donated K100 million to the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR). The fuel importer also made donations aimed at assisting ood victims in Mzuzu and Karonga and also supported activities to mark this year’s World Press Freedom Day by the National Media Institute of Southern Africa (Namisa).
In 2017 Petroleum Importers Limited (PIL), a major fuel importer continued its efforts of assisting government in the provision of quality social services in the areas of Health and Education .PIL for the last 16 years set aside money for corporate social responsibility. PIL partnered with Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health to assist these sectors with materials and equipment that they need to discharge their duties. In 2017 PIL Board approved a planned CSR budget amounting to K50million . Many institutions have benefitted thus Community Day Secondary Schools (CDSS) in education sector and hospitals in health sector across the country. In education sector PIL has reached out to Rvirivi CDSS in Balaka,Chisugulu in Phalombe,Chilunga CDSS in Zomba, Kabwinja CDSS in Dowa and Ng’onga CDSS in Rumphi.In health sector Thyolo District Hospital ,Chikwawa District Hospital, Ntchisi District Hospital ,Mzimba District Hospital and Dedza District Hospital have benefited from the 2017 initiative .As Malawi’s major fuel importer, PIL reaffirms its commitment towards partnering with Government in the years to come.
